Campaign Story
Due to communication barriers, deaf girls and women in Zimbabwe are excluded from mainstream information on menstrual health. Consequently, some deaf girls and women resort to using materials, such as old t-shirts or newspapers during their mensuration, sometimes leading to an infection. Nzeve Deaf Center plans to train deaf girls to manufacture and distribute sanitary packs, and to educate other deaf women on menstrual hygiene and improve the health outcomes of 80 deaf women in Manicaland.
Nzeve provides them with sanitary packs, education and information on everyday menstrual hygiene and health. The project aims to improve the menstrual health of deaf girls and women, and to empower them to share their knowledge with other deaf females in their community.
